Guess Who's Back...

For a day, at least, the Dodgers have slipped a half game out of first place, losing a tough one 1-0 down in San Diego.  And it's not surprising the offense seemed sluggish, given the fact the team probably checked into their hotel rooms around 2 or 3 in the morning after playing a night game on the East Coast.  But, as everyone saw last night, the loss did have a silver lining.  The return of Jason Schmidt.Schmidt  And he looked like the Jason Schmidt that Ned Colletti signed to a lucrative deal.  His fastball was back up above 90, there was movement on his stuff, and he showed great command of the strike zone.  If Schmidt returns to form, the form we've seen with the San Francisco Giants over the past 5 1/2 seasons, the rest of the league better look out.  With Penny, Lowe, and Wolf already shutting down hitters the way they are, throwing Schmidt in there just makes it scary to face the Dodgers.  So we'll see how the rest of this series turns out.  It's Randy Wolf tonight, and he's got a tough act to follow, as well as a tough act to match.  Greg Maddux will be on the hill and be certain that he will bring everything he's got against us.
